'I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.'    John 15:5

Christ is our life, the true Life. Hallelujah! In Him we live and move and have our being (Acts 17:28). We are to depend continually and utterly on Him to produce anything of worth. Apart from Him, truly, we can do nothing.

Apart from Christ we can (and, sadly, do) sin, of course, and this is our natural element. But the end thereof is death - eternal separation from God and all that is good. We can, apart from Him, take our best shot at righteousness. In this we produce nothing but "dead works" and in the words of the prophet Isaiah, nothing more than "filthy rags", vile and detestable to God.

Do you desire a life of purpose and worth as is indeed our Father's most gracious will? Come then to the Father through our Lord Jesus - the Door into eternal life. Come, recognizing that His is a high and worthy call indeed, the best invitation ever given to fallen mankind. Know the reality of your need for His forgiveness; seek it, for He will surely not despise it, if it is sincere. Remember that God delights in mercy and His will is that none should perish.

Embrace with all your heart the new and heavenly life. Abide in Him and He in you. There is no greater love, no greater joy, and no greater peace. Bear fruit steadfastly, for His glory, as you know and fulfil His glorious will for your life by the power of His Spirit. Therein is true life - beyond anything that we can of ourselves think of.

"And let him who thirsts come. Whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely"'
Revelation 22:17
