A Prayer for the New Year

"Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you."
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

"You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you."
John 15:16

"I cried to Him with my mouth,
And He was extolled with my tongue."
Psalm 66:17

Eternal Father, most gracious and ever-living God, I thank You with all my heart for the unspeakable gift of Jesus Christ our Lord through Whom I come to the throne of grace. In this new year I cannot but remember with deep gratitude Your faithfulness over the past year. I have known nothing, O Lord, but Your great goodness, sustenance, direction, provision and protection. Your glorious countenance shone on me last year; You upheld me, and You enabled me to see more and more of the great and incomparable beauty of Jesus Christ my Redeemer.

Yes, there were challenges, but that is not contrary to Your word, and in the challenges I experienced Your unfailing faithfulness. Yes, I met hostility on account of gospel of Christ, but that comes with the territory of being in Your blessed kingdom. By Your sheer grace, I counted it all joy. To You alone be the glory. In all afflictions, Your grace was more than sufficient. Heavenly Father, because You are the same, and You do not change, I can face the new year with total trust in You. I do not know what the future holds, but I know, and it is comfort to my soul, that You are the Lord of the past, present and future. I believe that You will again sustain, guide and lead my family and myself through our pilgrimage in 2016. I know and I thank You that You always work all things for Your glory and for the good of those who love You.

I pray and believe that You will grant me the grace to be wholly occupied and given to Your service.
I pray and believe that You will grant me the grace to pray without ceasing.
I pray and believe that You will sanctify me by Your Spirit and word, separating me from sin.
I pray and believe that You will keep me as the apple of Your eye.
I pray and believe that You will keep me growing in the love of Your holy word.
I pray and believe that You will imprint Your holy fear in my heart, that I may continually hold Your word in awe.
I pray and believe that You will grant me the grace to love what You love and hate what You hate.
I pray and believe that You will graciously continue to perfect that which concerns me.
I pray and believe that You will continue to lead me by Your precious Holy Spirit.
I pray and believe that You will grant me wisdom and the grace to fulfil Your will.
I pray and believe that You will steer, strengthen, and bless all my endeavours in accordance with Your holy will.
I pray and believe that You will strengthen me as a wife, as a mother, and as a servant in Your church.
I pray and believe that You will bless and keep my family and will cause Your countenance to shine upon them.
I pray and believe that all my children shall be taught of You and the peace of my children shall be great.
I pray and believe that all my children will receive a love of Your word, and will fear You and obey Your word.
I pray and believe that as the mountains surround Jerusalem, so You will surround my family and me.
I pray and believe that the glory of Your Name will be the priority and the preoccupation of my family.
I pray and believe that no weapon of the enemy fashioned against any member of my family shall prosper.
I pray and believe that You will be for us all our everlasting Rock, Fortress, Shield, our Goal, and our joy eternal.
I ask, O Lord, that Your name alone be continually magnified, praised and adored in my family.
I pray for all the brethren whose love of Jesus and His church has encouraged and edified me.
I pray Your blessing upon all true followers of our Lord Jesus Christ.
I pray for the persecuted church, that they may know Your grace and comfort in all tribulations.
I pray and believe that You will purify and strengthen Your church.
I believe that You are building Your glorious church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
O Lord my God, hallowed be Your Name.

In Jesus' Name,
Amen
